Humboldt Park Heroes: Tim Richter

Our next Humboldt Park Hero is Tim Richter, a long-time Bay View resident and great friend of the park. On any given day, you can find Tim enjoying the park and beer garden with his friends and family. His love of the park began with his grandmother taking Tim to the park as a child and now Tim is passing that love of the park to his own family. We asked Tim to share his story with us, and we want to thank him for his contribution to the park and honor him as a Humboldt Park Hero.

Our next Humboldt Park Hero is Myron Thomsen, a long-time Bay View resident and great friend of the park. On any given day, you can find Myron in the park picking up trash or volunteering for a variety of events. We asked Myron to share his story with us, and we want to thank him for his contribution to the park and honor him as a Humboldt Park Hero.

Congratulations! We hit our original 100 for Humboldt Tree fundraising goal! But there is still work to be done.

Congratulations! We hit our original 100 for Humboldt Tree fundraising goal! But there is still work to be done.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to Humboldt Park Friends’ 100 for Humboldt campaign!

Your generosity is taking root, with two groups of tree plantings already completed. We expect another round of trees to be planted this fall.
This was a tremendous community effort, and we should be proud of what we have accomplished together.

Parks Department Begins Replacing Humboldt Park Trees

MILWAUKEE (April 23, 2021) — There is more than the normal spring growth happening in Humboldt Park this year. Milwaukee County Parks forestry crews have been busy planting trees in the 73-acre park, much to the delight of Bay View residents and park visitors.

Beginning in early April, crews began planting River birch, Elm, Maple, Ironwood, Basswood, Chestnut, and London Planetrees around the lagoon in the center of the park, near the Lily pond near E. Oklahoma Avenue, and on the hillside along S. Logan Avenue.
